Should I use the Venue’s Recommended Suppliers?

When planning your wedding, the choice of venue is one of the most significant decisions you’ll make. Once you’ve chosen the perfect location, you might be handed a preferred suppliers list. But why do venues provide this list, and why should you consider using it?

I’m proud to say that I am one of the recommended suppliers at Chenies Manor in Chenies, nr Rickmansworth and Amersham, purely because of the work I did there and the professionalism I showed working with Lucie Ann and the owners, Charles and Boo. Please don’t view this blog as biased, my goal is simply to share the benefits of working with trusted, experienced suppliers.

1. Trust and Experience

The main reason venues provide a preferred suppliers list is trust. These suppliers have worked with the venue before, often many times, and have proven that they can deliver high-quality services. The venue knows these suppliers will meet their standards and take care of their clients.

2. Familiarity with the Venue

Preferred suppliers are familiar with the layout, rules, and logistics of the venue. They know the ins and outs of working in that particular space, from where to set up equipment to how to manage the flow of guests. This can minimise the risk of any surprises or delays on the day.

3. Streamlined Communication

When your supplier has a working relationship with the venue, communication between the two is usually more seamless. The venue already knows what to expect from them, and the supplier can easily navigate any venue-specific requirements. This can save you from playing the middleman and reduce the chance of miscommunication.

4. Reliability and Accountability

Venues often have high standards, and they want to ensure that the suppliers working there will deliver a great experience. A preferred suppliers list guarantees that you’re choosing professionals who are reliable and accountable to both the venue and you as the client.

5. Quality Control

Preferred suppliers have a track record of delivering top-quality service at the venue. By recommending these trusted suppliers, the venue ensures their reputation is upheld and that you receive the level of service you deserve. It’s in their best interest to suggest suppliers that will leave you satisfied.

Do you have to use the venue’s preferred suppliers?

The short answer is: not necessarily. Unless it’s specifically stated in your contract with the venue, you’re not obligated to use their recommended suppliers. Many venues provide flexibility and allow you to choose your own suppliers. However, it’s always worth considering having a conversation with the recommended suppliers, even if you’re not required to use them.

Building a relationship with suppliers who are already familiar with the venue can still be advantageous. By speaking with them, you may find that their experience working at your chosen venue can provide you with peace of mind, as they’ll be better equipped to navigate the space and handle any unique venue requirements.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, but talking with the venue’s preferred suppliers can help you make a more informed decision.
